Project Planning & Management
How do you ensure your digital project comes in on time, to
specification and within budget?
It all starts withasking the right questions.
You need to get a crystal clear understanding of who you are,
where you’re going,
why you’re doing this, what you want, whom it’s for, what you can or can’t
do, what resources you have and when you want it by.
4D Digtal Project Mananagement System
To properly plan the development
your website or application we use a comprehensive, consultative
project
planning
and management process,
we call the 4D System.
About our 4D System
Our 4D System provides you with the assurance
that your project will be completed to specification, on time and
within budget. Using a proven development methodology that includes
clearly defined quality control checkpoints, we are able to ensure
that even the most complex projects are easy to manage and deliver
on schedule.
The 4D System consists of 4 critical phases:
- DISCOVERY facilitates the
development of a clearly defined project scope and strategy
- based on your goals, requirements, budgets and timeframe;
- DESIGN involves preparing detailed functional,
creative and technical design specifications based on your
requirements for review
and approval;
- DEVELOPMENT focuses on implementing the
detailed visual design plans for the GUI and programming for
all database and web software applications required in the
project plan for client review
and approval;
- DEPLOYMENT covers the installation, integration, testing,
review and user training for the website
as specified in the Functional Requirements Specification.

What’s
next?
We are committed
not only to producing great websites, but to ensuring their
long-term success. Managing a website is an ongoing process. Websites
are never ‘done’ and a successful website strategy requires two final
post-launch phases that are ongoing.
Marketing
There is little point
in having a website if nobody ever visits it. Once launched you
need to continuously focus attention on the website and find strategies
to attract visitors by actively promoting and advertising your
website
to your intended audience both online and offline.

Website Reviews
Over time, aspects of your site will need
to be reviewed, re-evaluated, refined or removed. To determine
what’s
working and what’s not, you
should undertake performance reviews on a regular basis.
ramJammas
can help ensure you select, track, measure and analyse
the right metrics so you can better understand and improve your
organisation's online ’s
performance against a set of defined objectives over a fixed period
of time.

Step 1: Discover
The first step needed is to define what it is you want from your website. What
is your reason for wanting a website? Who is your target audience - public,
suppliers, staff, clients? What content or information do you wish to convey?
What actions will visitors
be able to take? What is your budget? What is your deadline?
All of these questions must be answered, explored, documented,
presented and discussed with you in a functional specification
document defining your exact requirements for review and
approval.
This document acts as a "roadmap" for controlling the rest
of the development process by providing you with a “blueprint” like
a set of “architectural plans” for planning, building
and managing your website. |
Step 2: Design
First impressions do count, so your site needs to look professional and reflect
the personality and function of your business. The design must not dominate;
rather it should facilitate presentation of and easy access to services
and information across the site.
An integrated design approach requires that in addition
to colours, images, content and layouts, information architecture
must be considered; this refers to the way that the information
on your site is organized and linked together across the
site. The entire visual design should also enhance and reinforce
your primary goals and strategic objectives for the website. |
Step 3: Develop
During this phase the code for the individual pages is developed and tested.
If you have web applications or web database requirements then these are
designed, programmed and populated. All images are optimised for use
on the web and all content optimised
before insertion into web pages or databases.
The code our programmers produce is of the highest standard;
wherever possible, we use open standards and W3C standards
for CSS, HTML and XML, to ensure your website is compatible
across all the major browsers and operating systems. |
Step 4: Deploy
Before handover we fully test and review your website functionality and appearance
to ensure it meets the functional requirements specifications defined in
the Phase 1. Does the solution
meet
your requirements?
Are users able to use the functionality as intended?
If so, it’s
time to train internal/external users to use the DNN Content Management
System to adminster the website services and maintain website
content. The final stage is to deevelope and implement an
advertising campaign to market the launch of your
new website
to
your intended
audience.
Where necessary or requested, third party User
Testing can be done at this stage, typically with a small
sample
of people
who
fit
the
target
audience
of the site. Feedback obtained at this point can be very
useful in determining how well the site will work, and what
further changes need to be made to meet users needs. |
